Beast of Death
Milven Lay dead on the ground, the blood spreading on the dusty floor on which he had been attacked. A beast. A Long black tail flicked in the air, a torso almost all muscle, toned and bold rose and fell, rose and fell as its deep blood-curdling breath sounded through Finala’s ears. A bright mane of hair flowed from a petite face lit up in the moonlight, a nose so small and button-like. Lips so vivid red that it could entice any man. A tear ran down her soft, delicate cheeks and fell to the ground like a bird after its final breath in the world. The beast heard the noise and spun round startling Finala so much that her knees buckled and she almost fell if it weren’t for a sturdy rotting oak whose arm was out stretched to her as if it knew before anything else this would happen. Finala turned and moved her legs fast. She had always been a fast runner but this time it was driven by fear rather than enjoyment but thoughts raced through her mind thinking insane thoughts of letting the thing so putrid get her because after all she had no one left. Milven had been her mate for almost 10 moons but now it was over and she couldn’t go back to the clan that she had betrayed and left to marry the man she had always admired from afar at the clan meets.
The wind had picked up and was against Finala, the trees moaned and groaned at the agitation of the wind waking them from their slumber, but what made them shush was the growls and screeches from the black shadow wisping past them chasing the girl who had passed a few seconds ago.
Finala heard the great black monster of an animal behind her and clenched her fist fearing the ultimate, Death. Up ahead a trail up to a crag was slowly appearing but it was inevitable to avoid so she carried on running – running – running.
She fell to the ground at the edge and turned to see a Hideous creature full of evil, rage, and hatred at the world. Its eyes shone red and glared at her eagerly awaiting to feast on her insides. It lunged at her its teeth bearing with an odour of a thousand rotting bodies spreading, polluting then a swipe began to come down on Finala but the sun peeked over the land filling the void of darkness and banishing the beast to an eternal sleep in the otherworld. It was to late. Finala lay there her chest opened and blood spewing out, dead. No Death marks. No one to find her, except the lone scavengers of the early morning.
