Art Competition

Well done to everyone who entered the last art competition. We didn't get as many entries as we'd hoped for, which may be because it was a slightly challenging theme. We'll bear this in mind for next time, but thanks to everyone who put the effort in.

So, the winner of the second art competition is...

Molly Mawk

Writing competition

Onto the writing competition, which will more than likely mean we're swamped with entries! :wink:

For this months theme we decided to make it so you could let you're imaginations run wild, and it also fits in with this time of year. The theme is also less specific so hopefully we'll end up with some very different entries.


The theme can be anything to do with CoAD, but you must make sure that it's inspired by Halloween.

We know that Halloween was invented much later than this era but just for a bit of fun we're letting you create something a bit spookier, where the spirits can be that little bit more evil.

If you're stuck for ideas you could work from a starting point such as the Raven bone grounds, or an ancient ritual.

The rules are the same as last time - you can write in any format you want but the word limit is 1000 words. Entries must be in by the 26th November.

Apollo, sorry to pick you out, I'm sure it's the same with lots of other people.

Please don't be put off entering because not many other people have. If everyone did that then we wouldn't have even had the amount of entries we did. I don't really get why this would be a problem anyway... The less amount of entries the easier it is to win. I can only presume that you'd be embarrassed by entering if the rest of the Clan didn't, but you've got nothing to lose - no one will criticise your work in a harsh way.

Unless we start getting more entries in the next art competition I fear that there might not be that many left. At the moment it's starting to seem like a waste of energy - we put a lot of effort into organising them and judging them and it doesn't really seem like the Clanners are benefiting from it. I'd really like to keep these going for as long as possible so please enter even if you're the only one.

Ok I'm definitely going to enter next time - I don't have a scanner, so I'll just have to take a picture. And I'll enter this writing competition too, the theme's really good. Because what's the harm in entering? And if EVERYONE thinks 'I won't bother cos other people haven't,' then NOBODY ever will.

i reckon writings better if it isn't as descriptive, well its good to be clear about whats going on but bombarding a text with adjectives only drags it out...i'd love to be a judge...

Whitefang, just look through the stickies in this thread to find out what's going on.

Kalindoray, 900 words is fine. The 1000 word limit is the maximum you're allowed - anything less is fine.
