Blackwolf

The Voices of the earth.
The rustle of the deer; the cry of a raven; the snort of the forest horse; the howl of a wolf; the roar of a bear and the soft lapping of the waves in which the seal dives. All will soon be united in the world.
A great power is stirring, one which will throw the world into separation. Different formations, different motives but the same desire.
This power stirs in the eyes of the Nanuak which are a mixture of colours. These colours relate to that of the world spirit. He sits down on the earth; frowning with concentration as he gathers his thoughts then he cups his hands to his mouth and begins to sing to the animals of the world. The howl of a grey wolf mixed with the cawing of a raven. These followed by the sound of a deer and a horse then the bear and the seal. Lowering his hands; the man sighed, breathing life into the voices of the earth.
Kuona padded through the forest pausing only to answer the mysterious howl which seemed to summon him. His amber eyes shone with cunningness and loyalty. The cry of a Raven started him. The wolf looked up to see a raven approaching him. The Raven landed. “I am Sinqwo. I don’t know what it is but I was drawn to you and with you I shall travel” it cawed. Kuona nodded. “The world spirit has strange ways which we may not understand but must follow” he growled before padding forward.
The Nanuak smiled as the pair met.
Silent foot galloped through the forest, her hoofs making no noise as she moved. Enna watched her, compelled by the bond she felt between them. In response Silent foot stopped and turned to face the deer. “Something draws me to you. A bond so strong, I can not resist.”Enna whispered. Silent foot nodded. “I feel the bond between us too though it seems that soon it will be broken” she whined. Both creatures nodded at each other and strode on.
Again the Nanuak smiled and bowed his head to his knees as he felt his power begin to take shape.
Joyla paddled gracefully through the water as she dodged the blocks of ice floating in the water. She froze suddenly as she heard the sound of a bear. Her head shook wildly as she looked for somewhere to hide. She could dive down into the water but the bear would dive down after her and kill her. She suddenly felt the bears gaze on her. “I don’t know why my mind instructs me not to eat you but to carry you and follow my senses” Roared Deman. Joyla nodded meekly and tried not to wriggle as the great bear lifted her up. Her greyish fur bright on the bear’s white fur.
The Nanuak stood up. His work was nearly done. He twitched his fingers to show the animals where to come. Gradually the animals assembled themselves; each bewildered by who they sat by. All ears and eyes on the man who stood before them. The man lifted his head and looked at each of them in turn. “Your time has come…” he began in a gentle voice. “You all have destinies. Kuona, you are the wolf guardian. You will look after the people of the wolf clan and watch over them. Your skills will enable them to survive” he said addressing the wolf who blinked back at him.
“Sinqwo. Your eyes are sharp and your instinct quick. You are the guardian of Raven clan and will guild them” he carried on before turning to the forest horse. “You are able to carry people on your back and can gallop through the undergrowth as silent as the wind. You are the guardian of the Forest horse can.” He added.
“Enna. Your abilities are similar to that of Silent foot’s but you have the power to flee when danger threatens. Use this to your advantage.” He growled. “Joyla, you have thick seal and the ability to glide through water with grace. Seal clan will benefit from your guidance” he whispered close to the seal.
Lastly he addressed the bear. “You are great and powerful. You bring fear to all who are around you. This is what the bear clan will benefit from.” He murmured. The bear paused. “How is it that I am not dead? Nor is Joyla. We both come from the cold lands up north. It is not right that we can survive here” he growled. The Nanuak smiled. “The world spirit protects all” was all he replied.
Each animal raised their head to the sky and let their voices ring out. Then one by one, they left. As Silent foot had predicted. The bonds which had seemed so strong broke as the guardians went to do there jobs. Clans had been created as had Clan guardians. Now all live alongside each other though not always at peace.
