Okay, this few words here ain't actually part of the story, since this is my first time -ever- period, writing in some writing competition online, and since I'm still a complete newbie to the forums, I'm not sure if I get everything right, but don't judge the story to harshly, and just hoping the word count begins at the title. :-)
The Silenced Howl
An icy chill swept over the Forest that night, everything was silent, the tension could have been cut by a knife, The Moon was full, but is was dark in the forest, to dark.
The mist had a chilling sensation for anyone unlucky enough to walk through it. Quietly walking through the forest, a hunter, wrapped up in, what looks remarkably like bearskin, he stood, with an axe in his hand, and icy chill in his dead eyes. Then he saw it. Prey, he thought.
Silently in a clearance nearby, a sleeping wolf pack slept, the Pack-Leader on guard. The hunter layed solemnly in the bush, for seemingly ages, before attempting an attack, he threw his axe, much to his horror, the wolf knew he'd been there, swiftly leaping to the side, and towards the hunter screamed violently, and ran, ran through the Forest, until he came to the Widewater, he leapt in.
The bearskin clothing began to weigh him down, and his energy began to wane, slowly but surely he began to drown in the water, his last action was his cold, empty s.eyes fixed on the wolf, in a nightmaish stare.
The Wolf looked stunned, then, standing back, he howled at the top of his lungs at the Moon, and grunted slightly, the rest of the Pack emerged from the pushes, looking worried by the Wolf, his hackles up, and his fangs bearing, he looked like he was ready to attack the first thing he saw.
Flying over the Raven Camp, a lone black bird flew majestically in the air, looking rather appeased, the Raven sped over the ground lowly, past the tents, and glided up the rock, screeching with delight, that's when he heard it, the Howl.
The Raven could not speak Wolf, but at the back of it's mind, he knew the wolf had yelled "Silent!" "Silent!" The Raven soared over the forest, being only a short journey to where the Wolf was., much to Saeunn's discomfort as she watched the Raven leave from her tent.
The Raven appeared above the wolves, perched in a branch, it lowered its beak, and looked over the branch, he saw it, then and there, every single Clan Guardian in the Forest! A Horse, a Boar, a Sea-Eagle, everything! All huddled around this wolf, who seemed to be in complete control. The birds who had arrived, like the Raven, had perched in the branches, but none were as secretive about their presence as the Raven was, it stood, hidden at the back of the branch, its black feathers seemingly blending in with the dark tree.
The Wolf stood on a rock, in the middle of all the Clan Guardians, none of the other animals knew whether this one was the Guardian of the Wolf Clan or not, since no other Wolves, excluding this Wolf's pack, seemed to be present. The wolf let out a small whine, and gestured to the east, and his amber eyes gave a twitch of fear, then, as if to answer the question, they came. A band of rogue hunters, all armed with axes, charged at the Clan Guardians.
The battle seemed imminent, when out of a bush, Wolf, -the- Wolf, The Wolf, leapt out of the bush, startling both sides, Wolf began an urgent yowling to the Pack-Leader, the wolf stared longingly at the enemy hunters, then, began an urgent retreat, the other Clan Guardians following him, all of them had left, except the Raven.
Slowly but surely, Fin-Kedinn arrived where Wolf was keep the hunters at bay. the Raven looked sagely at Fin-Kedinn, then, over to the nearby trees, where he glimpsed two eyes similar to his own, he knew the Raven Mage was about.
The hunters' leader introduced himself as Packleader Godryk, seemingly Clanless, Fin-Kedinn bored his eyes into Godryk, trying to read every possible tell-tale sign his eyes gave away.
"This man wanted revenge" Then something in the Raven's memory crackled. There were as many hunters as Clan Guardians. One from each Clan, one exile. The Raven soared over to Saunnn, and Saunn had seemed to realise the same thing, the hunting pack were technically insane from being cut off from their Clan for so long!
But, Fin-Kedinn held a tight hold of the pack, no man could've taken their gaze of his eyes, those eyes that seemed to crack into their very mind, and read their thoughts. This man they thought, was going to stop them. They would not accept this, they became filled with rage at Fin-Kedinn's intrusion, yet, apart form introductions, nothing had been said, then, Fin-Kedinn looked over the pack-leader's shoulder, and saw a small, ratlike man with blazing brown eyes as dark as a moonless night, a cold glint in his eye Fin-Kedinn piped up "Serrin?" he asked.
The ratlike man looked at Fin-Kedinn, and the Clan Leader knew it was him, the Raven Camp exile. Fin-Kedinn sighed, he'd been exiled for the very reason he was here now, he was killing the animals held sacred. He'd killed for sport. Never used any part of the animal, which, as everyone knew, went against Clan Law. Fin-Kedinn's gaze had now broken the rest of the warband, and they realised it, they were armed, and Fin-Kedinn had nothing. The Raven looked on at the now worrying situation, and thought to himself, what could be done, then he had an idea, he flew away.
Fin-Kedinn did not look worried, he took a step back and the back advanced, the pack-leader raised his axe above Fin-Kedinn, and Saunn gasped silently, just as the axe was about to hit, they heard it, the Raven Guardian had done his work quickly, there, weaving through the trees, hundreds of them, black terrors, Ravens. A huge assortment of them, all with sleek black feathering, let out bloodcurdling screeches, and flaw towards the Pack.
The Pack-Leader knew, that his time had come, and the pack charged towards the Raven
