Michelle will be featured on today's NEWSROUND (BBC One, 5:25pm) with wolf cubs Torak and Mosi from The UK Wolf Conservation Trust of which Michelle is patron.  If you miss it, you can see a replay on the BBC website on this link .

Torak was born on 14 April 2006 and is named - of course! - after the lead character in the Chronicles of Ancient Darkness. Mosi was born on 27 April 2006 and had a tough start in life –abandoned by her elderly wolf mother and her den flooded in heavy rain – she was very small when she arrived at the Wolf Trust, but is doing well now.

Soul Eater is just two weeks away!

As the UK release of Soul Eater draws near, we have decided here at The Clan to hold a very special event for the launch of Soul Eater.

At the August 30th release of Soul Eater, we will be inviting five of our keenest Clanners to attend the launch alongside Michelle Paver herself!

The launch will be well attended by the press and will be in central London. It may be televised, and Michelle has said that there will be a very special surprise at the launch for everyone involved!

If you are a dedicated fan of the Chronicles of Ancient Darkness, are based in the London area and are available on Wednesday 30th August, send us an email at nanuak at torak.info headed ‘Soul Eater Launch’. We’ll only be taking five Clanners with us so get your entry in quick! Preference will be given to those Clanners who have the most Clan Pioneer points.

Do you think you too could create a world like Torak’s?  If you do, why not enter Surrey History Centre’s STONE AGE STORY COMPETITION.  Michelle has chosen five Stone Age words & phrases, and we want you to weave them into a story…

• Antler
• Bear
• Flint arrowhead
• Red ochre
• A sudden noise through the trees
  

Before you start, here are some points Michelle wants you to bear in mind…

• You will need to mention each of the five words or phrases in the story.
• You can use the words in whatever order you like, and in whatever way you would like, for example the bear could be the subject of the story, or simply have a ‘walk on’ part…
• Your story can be an adventure, a ghost story, a thriller, a mystery, or anything else; just as long as it is set in the Stone Age!

Michelle Paver and TV Archaeologist Julian Richards will judge the winning entries.  Prizes will include signed copies of their recent books, a replica Stone Age tool and the chance to see your story on-line!

Your story can be any length, up to a limit of 1000 words

Competition entries will be judged in the following age categories:
Under 10s, 10-14s, Over 14s

The closing date for entries is 25th August. Winners will be notified by 6th September. Winner’s presentation by Julian Richards will take place on 9th September at SHC

We have some hot news (with temperatures at 34 degrees Celsius in the UK today, it really *is hot!).

Michelle will be talking about how she created Torak’s Mesolithic world, taking inspiration from the Inuit and scavenging for food in the forests of Finland, this Saturday, 22nd July, at Surrey History Centre, 130 Goldsworth Road,
Woking, Surrey, GU21 6ND.

Michelle will be talking between 10.30am – 12.30pm & 1.30pm – 3.30pm.  Also, Flint knapper Allan Course will demonstrate how to make flint tools, and leather worker Piers Chandler will demonstrate how to prepare and use animal skins.  Tickets are £2 each, booking essential.  Phone 01483 518737 to book.
