I’m delighted to welcome you to the official site for all readers of the Chronicles of Ancient Darkness series – it’s great to have you here!You’ll find lots here to enjoy. Right at the heart of the site is The Clan – a place where thousands of readers from all over the world meet and have fun. You’ll find all the latest news reported here first, and get a chance to win some terrific prizes in our regular competitions.
As you may know, I don’t have Internet access, so I’m not able to join in here as much as I’d like to. However, our trusty Clan Mages and webmaster are always around to help - all you have to do is ask. They'll be delighted to answer your questions, and generally make sure you have a great time here! You know what an avatar is - it's the identifying image next to your name. On The Clan, we have an advanced avatar system that allows you to completely customize your avatar by adding ingredients to it. For example, you can add a figure, choose its hair and even give it a pirate hat!The avatars we're using at the moment aren't specifically related to the Chronicles of Ancient Darkness series (pirate? Don't think so!). And that's what we want you to do for the next - and greatest - contest... to create a set of items themed on one of the Clans here.
For example, your avatar pack might include a Clan tattoo, weapons, items of clothing, cool backgrounds, Clan guardian animals... the list goes on and on!
Making an avatar pack is really easy - even if you've never been very good at art. You can enter the contest whether you can draw or not, because there are already lots of examples of clip art for you to adapt and use.
Full help and instructions are in the new special forum we've just opened for this contest. Oh - and did we mention the prizes? They're awesome! Closing date is the 18th April, so you've got all Easter to produce the best pack of avatars in the entire COAD universe!

EmailWillow of the Red Deers' winning piece:
As a deep indigo cloak is pulled over the sky and the burning fervour of the greater light sinks down into the sea, setting it ablaze with the crimson and auburn, a campfire smoulders. The humble peace of the silent camp is suddenly disturbed by a small, wiry creature with rough tanned skin. Her long chestnut hair is held away from her pretty face by a simple headband. She kneels by the fire and awakens it with a surprisingly gentle hand. When the fire once again burns with a passion, sparks rising, kissing and consuming themselves, a shadow moves and is blessed with life. The girl jumps.
‘I-I am sorry to have disturbed you, Antiquus’
The old woman does not speak; instead she lifts a water skin in her bony hands. Each of her fingers grip the skin with bird-like talons and her black eyes shine as the cool water slithers down her parched dry throat. She replaces the water skin and fingers her long white hair, staring into the crackling fire. She cares little for the young girl who waits hopefully at her knee, staring up into the cold eyes of the only person she had ever thought of as family. Antiquus knows however, that death waits at her shoulder like a deserted lover, caressing her cheek and welcoming her into its arms. She has little time left and she must pass on the last of her knowledge to this girl.
‘Be seated, Brydon.’ Her tone as harsh as a winter day but it immediately softens to spring and blooms into summer as she thought of the tale she is about to tell. ‘I will tell you of how we came to have the greater light which burns with passion and the lonely lesser light which wonders the sky and guides us through the dark...

EmailFor the past few months, a dedicated tram of Clanners have been beavering away (er, wolfing away?) to create the wonderful CLAN WIKI.
What is a wiki? Well, you’ve almost certainly used Wikipedia… a huge encyclopedia of the internet -and the Clan Wiki is very similar (it actually looks like Wikipedia a bit, because it runs on the same software).
A wiki is like an online encyclopedia that is editable by everyone. It is a repository for knowledge and information. And that’s where we want your help – let’s make the Clan Wiki the biggest and best source of absolutely all the information we can put together about the Chronicles of Ancient Darkness. To browse the Wiki, and to start adding information, simply click on the link in the main menu above!
